Art: A trick of the tongue

Title: Trick of the tongue
Artist: [info]hrymfaxe
Rating & Warnings: R for nudity (not explicit) and sexuality.
Prompts: "smile" and "That man that hath a tongue, I say is no man,
If with his tongue he cannot win a woman"
Medium: Ink and touch-ups Photoshop
Summary: Even when he is silent, Remus' tongue can still win a smile from a woman. ;)
Artist's Notes: I thought I would be in big trouble with my bard prompt, because it is a little hard to illustrate flowery, romantic speech, but then I realised that a tongue is good for other things than speaking... Many, many thanks to Onthemetro for this wonderful stock photo from dA, that I used for reference.

[info]metamorfic_moon Presents: The Beatles and the Bard Timeless Moon Ball Sign-Ups

Dear fangirl or boy, will you read my fic?
Or maybe you'll take a look at my pic.
It's based on a novel by a girl named Jo.
I've got no life, so I want to be a fanfiction writer,
Fanfiction writer!

It's the angsty story of a wolf man
And his Auror wife who takes a stand.
Their son's a baby with turquoise hair.
It's the kind of story that makes me be a fanfiction writer,
Fanfiction writer!

Friends, shippers, fangirls, lend me your ears! Now is the spring of our R/T hearts' content! All these teasing glimpses about John, Paul, George, Ringo, and Mr. Shakespeare will finally be revealed as the curtain parts and the stage lights come on...[info]metamorfic_moon's The Beatles and the Bard Timeless Moon Ball has begun!

In case you're wondering what's in a name, this event is our way of saying, after the hard day's night of Deathly Hallows, the members of this community have stuck together and kept going, which makes us feel all right. Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks (and of course their Teddy Boy) are destined to go on living in fandom as enduring icons like The Beatles and Shakespeare are to us Muggles. And, since J.K. Rowling opened the door wide, your corny clever mods just couldn't resist punning on The Tales of Beadle the Bard.) This Ball is your chance to add yet more R/T art and fics to the archives, where age cannot wither, nor custom stale their infinite variety.

How does it work? It's pretty simple.

1. Read The Rules!
Before you sign up, please read through the RULES. In signing up to participate in The Beatles and Bard Timeless Moon Ball, members solemnly swear that they have read and understand the following rules and agree to abide by them.

2. Sign Up!
Simply comment to this thread to tell us you're in. Please indicate whether you're in for in fic, art, or both! Also, tell us Beatle or Bard -- Beatle if you'd like a Beatles' lyric prompt, Bard if you'd like a quote from one of Shakespeare's plays.

3. Get Your Prompts!
Once you've signed up, a mod will promptly reply to your comment with two prompts: one single-word prompt, and one Beatles or Shakespeare quote as per your choice.

Examples of Beatles and Shakespeare prompts you may receive:

It's been a hard day's night,
I should be sleeping like a log,
But when I get home to you,
I find the things that you do,
Will make me feel alright.
A Hard Day’s Night

"Come, madam wife, sit by my side, and let the
world slip, we shall ne'er be younger."
The Taming Of The Shrew (induction, scene 2, lines 143–144)

4. Get To Work!
From the time you receive your prompt, you will have until Wednesday, the 4th of June to write and post as many works of art or fics as your prompts inspire.

5. Post!
Posting access will be granted as soon as you've signed up for the Ball (provided you're a member of the community, so be sure you've joined, and not just put Meta on your watch list), so there's no need to wait for a mod post stating that you can post. Just go for it! But take your time working -- you've got more than three weeks! Click HERE for posting guidelines.

So we do hope that all you R/T writers and artists out there, whether you've written or drawn a dozen R/T pieces, or have always wanted to but never gotten around to it, screw your courage to the sticking place and sign up! Coz all the world's an R/T stage, and we wanna hold your hand!

Icon't decide...

[info]metamorfic_moon's The Beatles and The Bard Timeless Moon Ball kicks off on Monday (12th of May) at which time you'll find out exactly how this gig is going to work and pick up your Ticket to Ride. Meanwhile, writers, artists, reviewers, you have a choice to make. Don't worry, it's nothing quite as soul-searching as to be or not to be.

Rather, it's time to choose your props for the show, namely, your [info]metamorfic_moon event icon. We have two for you to choose from this time, in a variety of colours that should suit every mood and taste.

So cast your eyes over the options and let us know what's in your name, and we'll rustle up the goods. Please bear in mind that there is a limit to the number of characters we can squeeze on an icon, so if your name is long, it would be helpful if you could provide a shortened version of your name as a backup.

And keep your eyes peeled on Monday for the big announcement!

a) how did you get into my mailbox in the first place, it is locked
b) did you kill the bird
c) it died horribly, that much was clear
d) you're psycho
e) do I know you
f) if I do know you I don't want to know you
g) if I don't know you, what did I do to inspire you to put a dead bird in my mailbox
h) I don't know how to disinfect a mailbox from a dead bird, I'm worried about diseases and have used five different kinds of cleaner but still feel like the bird's still in there still and like my bills and my catalogues and my coupons have dead bird on them
i) it was a hummingbird, I looked it up - they don't even live in New York - this is so f*ing psycho, I can't believe this
j) are you the mailman?
k) I'm always nice to the mailman
l) the super didn't care when I told him what happened
m) the neighbors didn't care either
n) do you have some kind of problem with birds
o) don't put anything else in my mailbox
p) unless it's an apology
q) no, I take that back, I don't even want an apology
r) what am I supposed to do with this bird - it's in bubblewrap in a bag in a shoebox in the freezer right now - am I supposed to bury it - where? how? in a construction site where they've jackhammered through the concrete - where is a person supposed to bury things in this city?
s) I could drop it in the Gowanus canal, but that seems undignified
t) I could drop it in the ocean, but the ocean is so big and it is such a small bird
u) I could drop it in the toilet but it would probably get stuck
v) I hear this whirring around my ears every time I go to the mailbox and I'm pretty sure it's ghost bird, and I'm all "it wasn't me that killed you, bird!" but still the whirring doesn't go away until I get to the stairwell
w) am I supposed to eat it - maybe you were trying to feed me - don't you know I'm a vegetarian
x) if this was Ricky, I'm gonna beat your ass, mama told you stop bothering the zoo
y) if this was Gina, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, how many times I gotta say I'm sorry
z) I could drop it off the roof, maybe it will reincarnate while falling and I can start reading my mail again

After all, you're the only who can do it. In two weeks, on the 22nd, the voting process will begin; we'll remind you about it again here.

If you're interested in keeping up with the nominations, watch [info]lj_election_en. We'll post the results and announce the winner by the end of the day on May 30th. The new user-representatives will be seated on June 1st. Further details can also be found in [info]lj_2008.

Advisory Board Nominations Open

Advisory Board Nominations Begin

This morning we are opening the nomination process for the user-representative positions on the LiveJournal Advisory Board. A full description of the process can be found here.

To get you started, here are the basic things you should know:

- You may only nominate yourself
- Each nominee will need 100 motions of support in order to be eligible to be a candidate
- We ask that you keep your comments on the nomination posts to "I support this nomination" or something to that effect; be kind to those who will need to count the "supports", please.
- Although the nominations and election poll will take place in [info]lj_election_en, you do not need to watch the community in order to keep up with the election; we'll announce everything here as well.

Everyone here at LiveJournal is looking forward to this first-ever User-Representative election! We'd like to thank everyone who is participating. Some words from our current Advisory Board members:

danah boyd: “LiveJournal is filled with very passionate users. These users have helped shaped LJ's various communities over the last decade and it gives me great joy that LJ is recognizing and incorporating users' voices into the decision-making processes. Having user representatives from different parts of LJ on the Advisory Board will help make sure that the company is meeting the needs of its diverse constituents.”

Esther Dyson: "I'm sure we'll learn a lot from the process, and later on from the two users selected as well. Especially, I hope that the discussions before the voting will be more meaningful and more focused on policy than those in some offline campaigns."

Brad Fitzpatrick: "It's cool that SUP is getting users involved with the LiveJournal decision-making process. I look forward to seeing who the community elects and the results of our efforts working together."

Professor Lawrence Lessig: “The user elections will provide a critical check on LJ's process of maintaining a valuable and trustworthy environment for the LJ community. The mandate of the elections will give the user representatives pride of place among the members of the Advisory Board. Each of us will look to them to guide us in our judgment about how best to make LJ the community we all aspire that it will be. I look forward to welcoming the user representatives, and learning a great deal from them.”
